Access your address book from Thunderbird
You will need to have set up an IMAP account as described in this document, or at least been through the first stage of those instructions, "adding your certificate to Thunderbird".
-
Click on "Address Book"
-
Go to the Filemenu, selectNewand set up a new LDAP directory. -
Type in "iscape Server" (or whatever name you'd like to call this) and the
address of your server. Leave the bind DN empty, set the base DN to
o=civicrm and be sure to click on the "use a secure connection" button.
-
Now you should be able to search for people in your iscape address book.
The first
time you do this, you may need to permanently accept the certificate.
Note: You cannot browse the directory in Thunderbird, only search it, so don't worry if nothing shows up immediately. Once you start typing a name, the entries should appear. -
Next we will set up things such that, when you start typing an email,
the recipient will be looked up in iscape. First, go to the
Toolsmenu and selectOptions. -
Then go to
Advanced, ensure theGeneraltab is selected, and clickConfig Editor
- Type
ldap_2.autoin theFilterbox, and then setldap_2.autoComplete.directoryServertoldap_2.servers.iscape_Server.
- Finally, click on the row beginning
ldap_2.autoComplete.useDirectoryand, if it is not set totrue, right click on the row and selectToggle.
